This image represents one of the ritual figures in the Ashura ta’ziyyah, which refers to the narrative of the presence of the jinn in the event of Karbala. A face with symbolic painting, traditional clothing, and contrasting colors, represents the “caravan of jinn”—young men from the jinn tribe who, according to popular belief, appeared in the final moments of Ashura to help Imam Hussein (AS). This image is not only a reflection of Iranian ritual culture and religious performances, but also an attempt to preserve and recreate the oral and symbolic narratives that are at the heart of the ta’ziyyah and mourning ceremonies of Muharram.
